What Is NPD?
nodepositcasinobonus, or NPD, is a rare condition that occurs in the inner ear. It results in hearing loss in most cases, but is not life-threatening.
It is often caused by surgery, by trauma or an ear infection such as Otoplasty. It is not a disease of the central nervous system and so cannot be inherited from any family members. However, it can be passed down to children from the first child and may be genetic. It can also affect a family history of deafness and may also have a genetic predisposition for other hearing impairments.
If you have been diagnosed with NPD, you should see your primary care physician as soon as possible for diagnosis and treatment. This is particularly true if it has resulted in deafness, tinnitus, or hearing loss. If this is the case, your primary care doctor will order tests to ensure that there are no other conditions which could cause the symptoms. Your physician may also order some audiometry tests to determine the severity of your hearing loss. He will also order to determine your earwax build-up, to look for buildup of foreign bodies which might cause a blockage in the auditory canal.
The hearing loss usually starts at 20 years of age and can reach the later stages, where it may affect your ability to speak or understand speech, or even hear low tones. A cochlea of the ear test may be recommended if the cochlea is enlarged. Other tests include the CT scan and MRI.
Treatments for NPD include wearing hearing aids, or in very severe cases, surgery. In severe cases, medications and/or surgery may be used to slow the progression of the disease.
You should discuss all treatments with your primary care doctor before attempting them. He or she may be able to recommend some alternative treatments to use instead of drugs or surgery. It is important that you work closely with your doctor and the doctor that diagnosed the condition, to find the best course of treatment.
If prescription hearing aids are used, you should follow the instructions carefully. The prescription hearing aid must be worn all the time, with nothing else on, except for your glasses or contacts. If the hearing aid does not fit well, it will not work properly and cause you have hearing problems. The use of glasses or contact lenses should be limited to special occasions and to be worn with an additional source of hearing, such as a hearing aid. It is also important to have regular check-ups to monitor your progress.
If tinnitus is present, the patient may want to try a form of treatment called cochlear or noise masking. where he or she wears a device which produces noise that can be heard by other people, and they can then adjust the volume according to their preferences. The idea is that the person using the device does not hear the tinnitus. These devices have helped some people reduce the constant ringing and buzzing they suffer from.
If you have had NPD for less than three months, you should visit your primary care physician and schedule an appointment. Once you have ruled out any other conditions, they may be able to prescribe some treatment options to control the condition.
